We’re a team of software engineers specializing in simulation and training systems for the Department of Defense. Our work enhances mission readiness through high-fidelity, immersive training solutions.
Brian Woodard
Growing up, I was always drawn to technology, thanks to my mom. She worked as a visual engineer at NAWCTSD and introduced me to the world of military aerospace simulation, taking me to trade shows and sparking my curiosity. At home, we had a Macintosh, and I spent hours programming in BASIC and building computers. I later went on to get a B.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of Central Florida.
For more than two decades, I’ve worked on flight simulators, part-task trainers, and aircrew trainers, developing real-time executives, simulated avionics, and Semi-Automated Force (SAF) applications. I also have extensive experience with network interoperability using industry-standard DIS and HLA protocols. What I like most about this field is the impact—helping to train our nation’s soldiers and knowing that the work I do contributes to their readiness and capability.
Outside of work, I enjoy going on cruises with my wife, catching Rays games, and running the trails around Winter Springs. I also train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

I’ve been into computers and aircraft for as long as I can remember. In middle and high school, I built websites, put together computers, and became the go-to IT support for my family. That eventually led me to earn a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Central Florida, where an internship working with flight simulators set my career path.
Now, I work on the full lifecycle of flight simulators, from rehosting aircraft software to solving complex programming challenges on both new and refurbished systems. No two days are the same—whether I’m tackling a small software update or managing a large-scale integration, the variety keeps things interesting. As a Certified Scrum Master, I also help teams collaborate and stay on track using Agile principles.
Outside of work, I spend time exploring Central Florida and traveling with my wife and dogs. We’re always up for trying new restaurants, fishing in the Indian River Lagoon, or catching a UCF Knights, Tampa Bay Lightning, or Tampa Bay Rays game.

I graduated from Full Sail University with a degree in Game Design and Development, starting my career in video game development before moving into the simulation industry around 2007. The shift made sense—simulation combines interactive technology with real-world applications, making training more immersive and effective. Over the years, I’ve worked on a variety of projects, from traditional simulators to cutting-edge augmented reality (AR) applications designed to enhance military training and mission readiness.
Now, I focus on developing high-fidelity training systems like the H-1 Mission Rehearsal Trainer, which provides aircrew with realistic, scenario-based mission preparation. Additionally, as a member of Full Sail’s Program Advisory Committee for the Simulation and Visualization Degree Program, I help shape the curriculum to ensure the next generation of simulation professionals is prepared for industry.
Outside of work, I spend most of my time with my wife and our three kids. We love getting outdoors, exploring Virginia, and making the occasional trip to Disney.
